Most women and babies do well but there is an increase in pre-term labor and more severe disease requiring supplemental oxygen for pregnant women who contract COVID-19, according to the Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology. Vaccination can prevent severe outcomes. We do recommend that our pregnant patients who do not have underlying conditions or risk factors receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
