Vaccinations are key to preventing illness. While we think of immunizations as part of baby and child care, but they’re important for adults, too – particularly pregnant women.

The seasonal flu vaccine is now available at Women’s Health and Menopause Center (WHMC) with a scheduled appointment. Doctors and the Center for Disease Control continue to recommend that the best way to avoid the flu is to be vaccinated. People over 50, young children and women pregnant during the flu season are most likely to get the flu.

On average, a woman’s period lasts four or five days and causes only minor discomfort and inconvenience. However, some women have periods lasting much longer – up to 14 days – that may be irregular, no longer following a 21- to 35-day cycle.  What’s more, menstrual flow can be so heavy that a pad or tampon or more is soaked every hour. If this sounds familiar, seek medical advice for some much-needed relief.

Chances are, the mother of three living next door to you uses one. And there’s a pretty good possibility the nearly retired folks across the street use one too. It’s not something everyone makes public, but it is part of a healthy sexual trend that is growing more and more common among women – and men – and especially in particular age groups.
