Pfizer announced yesterday that it will initiate a voluntary recall of 1 million packets of birth control pills. The birth control drug is known as Lo/Ovral-28 or generic norgestrel/ethinyl estradiol.
The recall states an improper dosage may be taken due to packaging that placed the inactive pills out of order causing the dosage to be inadequate. This creates a risk of pregnancy.
If you are taking either of these drugs, please call our office for an alternative birth control option or sign into the patient portal and click ask a clinician to securely request a prescription change. You will be notified when the prescription is written. You should also return the pills to the pharmacy.
